Accessible ADU questions
More in our FAQ, or call (209) 214-6845.
Can you make an ADU wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Our Accessible ADU adds step-free entry, a roll-in curbless shower, grab bars, a fold-down shower seat, a roll-under sink, wide doorways and lever handles — planned around the person who will live there.
Which model works best?
It depends on the person and your lot. Many families choose the 1 Bedroom for a separate bedroom, or the 2 Bedroom when a caregiver lives in. We check the route from your house and the yard in the free lot check.
How much does an Accessible ADU cost?
The price depends on the model and the options you choose. We confirm one all-in price in writing after a free lot check — accessibility options included, no change orders later.
Is it ADA compliant?
The ADA covers public buildings, not private homes. We plan the features with you for real daily use; ask us about specific clearances you need and we'll include them in the plan.
How long does it take?
Typically 4–6 months from signing — permits, foundation, factory build and installation. The home itself is installed in about a week.
Will the city approve it?
In most cases, yes. California law requires the city to approve or deny a complete ADU application within 60 days (Gov. Code §66317). We handle the permits.
Can a caregiver live there?
Yes. The 2 Bedroom ADU has room for a live-in caregiver, and in-home caregivers can visit any of our homes.
