What is the Backyard Studio?
A compact, factory-built studio on an 8’ × 15’ footprint with a covered deck — a private home office, gym, yoga room, art or music studio steps from your house.
Can I add a bathroom?
Yes. It comes in two configurations: an open studio, or a studio with an en-suite half bath (toilet and sink).
Do I need a permit?
The Backyard Studio has no kitchen, so it's an accessory studio rather than an ADU and usually needs less paperwork. Rules differ by city — we check yours during the free property assessment and handle any permits that are required.
Can someone live in it?
It's designed as a studio, not a full home — there's no kitchen or shower. If you want a rentable unit or a guest home, look at the Small Studio, which has a full kitchen and bathroom.
How much does it cost?
The Backyard Studio is $75,900 all in, including the foundation, utility hook-ups, delivery and the crane. Launch pricing (30% off our published home prices) runs through December 31, 2026.
How long does it take?
Four to six months from signing to keys. The studio is built in our factory while your site is prepared, and installation takes about a week.
Is it solar-ready, and is there a warranty?
Yes. It comes with a mounting frame designed for a solar array, and every studio has a 2-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
